We Love Midwives Morning Tea

  • Broads Field Nelson New Zealand (map)

May 5 is International Day of the Midwife. Midwives in New Zealand are doing it tough. Let's show them we appreciate the work that they do bringing our babies into the world.

This morning tea/picnic will be on held on "The Broads" field in front of Nelson Hospital and at the Tahunanui Community Centre if wet. It is a 'spinoff' of the celebration to be held on Parliament lawn hosted by Emily Writes. Bring your kids and some kai. We'll eat together and the kids can draw pictures for our midwives while we write some letters together in support of our wonderful wāhine.

If you can't make it - share your experiences of the midwives who touched your heart with the hashtags #mums4midwives and #dads4midwives on 5 May.

Bring a sign if you like. These hardworking, incredibly selfless women need us to stand up for them. Let's show MPs that we care about our midwives and we want safe births in NZ. No more shortages. No more overcrowding in postnatal wards. No more overworked, underpaid, and overwhelmed midwives. They can't strike so we'll show them we support them.
