Masked Parade Enrolments

The iconic Nelson Masked Parade is an explosion of colour, music and performance in mask!

The theme this year is ‘We are the World’. Peoples and places, cultures and creatures, local and global, who and what make up your world? All are invited to take to the streets with globally inspired creations for the final fling of this year’s Nelson Arts Festival.

Entry is free and open to all, including community groups, businesses, families, individuals and, of course, school groups of all ages. There are prizes for each of the following categories: individual, school group and non-school group, plus the Kim Merry Supreme Award for the overall winner.

Assembly Area: Montgomery Square

Parade Route: Exit Montgomery Sq onto Bridge St, Trafalgar St, Hardy St, Morrison St, along Selwyn Pl, finishing by Church St.

The Carnivale fires up the evening directly after the Masked Parade, for party time in Trafalgar and Hardy Streets! There will be music on multiple stages, street performers, a dedicated youth-friendly zone, plus carnival rides, food stalls and so much more!

Everyone is invited to come together in this family-friendly celebration that will wrap up the 2017 Nelson Arts Festival.

Please note public streets are alcohol-free. There will be zero tolerance of alcohol and underage drinking.
